Client: eBay

Team: Director, PM, Engineers, Designer

eBay Local is a fast lane for shopping retail on eBay: Simple, Clean, Fast.

It is for customers who want the convenience, choice and flexibility of online shopping with the certainty, trust, selection and immediacy of physical retail brands.

A retail destination that empowers consumers to get what they want, how and when they want it, with options for instant or scheduled delivery & in-store pickup.

The Challenge

Bring the local retail experience to customers online through desktop and mobile; let them search inventory near them from stores they know and trust and allow them to receive/pick-up the products at a time and place of their choosing - connecting buyers with local inventory for shopping convenience.

Discovery

Why LOCAL shopping on eBay?

The retail industry is changing. Consumers are changing their behaviors which demand immediacy, transparency and connectivity in all aspects of their lives with high expectations and cost-effective fulfillment options. Traditional retailers are not sufficiently capturing the explosive growth in e-commerce. We believe there is a local solution that can put retailers back on center stage. eBay is the ideal partner to make the vision of local a reality.

Customer Segmentation

We are trying to answer these questions:

1. Who are local’s current customers? Why are they using local?

2. Which existing customers in eBay are likely to benefit from local?

3. How big is the local ‘s opportunity with non-eBay users?
